Raven's Eye View

Decades ago I wrote cinema reviews for radio. On retirement, however,  I moved to a small city without a cinema, so I stopped sharing my views.  In April 2025, cinephiles were gifted with two of the most original films produced in the past 20 years - Ryan Coogler's Sinners and the Mendoza/Garland directed Warfare. Both redefined genres. Both were original scripts. Both showcased sound design, with Warfare redrawing the parameters. Images and sounds from both those films have been living in my head for four months, like earworms.  Reviewing them is the only way to quiet my brain.  Welcome to Raven's Eye View, one pensioner's take on contemporary film.
